We at AWRAQ want to make sure that Jordanian society and
the surrounding region are aware of the concepts of
environmental justice and development, sustainable media,
and Human Justice. Through resource development, human
capacity building, and inspiring them to be innovative and
launch new initiatives, we hope to increase societal
awareness of the need to contribute to the attainment of
sustainable development goals.
The non–profit organization AWRAQ for Development and
Training (AWRAQ Media) was founded in 2015 with the goal of
promoting environmental justice and development, sustainable
media, and Human justice concepts in Jordanian society and the
region, with a special emphasis on the role of women and young
people in fueling the global fight against climate change and
trying to speed up progress. The AWRAQ Organization’s training
center has been active from day one with the objective of
maximizing the organization’s available resources, enhancing its
human resources, and inspiring its employees to think creatively
and adopt new methods of working in the fields of
administration, media, knowledge, and communications, public
relations, health, Environmental, international law, international
relations, and human rights through forging partnerships with
institutions such as the International Center for the Best Available
Resolution in Arbitration, Law, and Studies; The Center for
Strategic and Political Studies– University of Jordan; and the Basel
Convention’s Regional and Coordination Centers.
To raise awareness about environmental justice and development,
sustainable media, and Human Justice in Jordan and the surrounding
region so that we may all work together toward reaching global
sustainable development goals.
Activating and developing resources, strengthening human
capacities, and inspiring innovation are all necessary to keep up
with the fast–paced evolution of technology in the areas of
government, journalism, PR, public health, ecology, international
law, politics, and human rights.

Development Initiative
The environment is our foundation and our past, and it is
this link that will allow us to build a more sustainable future.
This program seeks to make environmental media a viable
career option valid for young people and appropriate
cadres in this field by providing training workshops and
lectures, leading awareness campaigns, gaining
social support, and producing specialized media materials
to raise public understanding of environmental issues,
combat the phenomenon of climate change, and
disseminate the ideas of environmental justice,
environmental development, and sustainable media
throughout the region.
Partnerships for environmental and
climate justice at the local and global
levels need to be strengthened.

Green Economy
The program aims to create environmental media content in Arabic
that raises societal awareness of pressing global issues in the field of
water, environment, energy, and health (climate change, global
warming, alternative energy….etc.
The program also aims to create a nucleus of media specialized in
the field of environment and climate through mobile journalism
(Mojo), which is a new way of working for the media, where
reporters are trained and equipped to be fully independent.
This is done through holding training workshops and lectures,
leading awareness campaigns and gaining support, producing
specialized media materials that will remove the misconceptions
related to climate change and preserving the environment in
general, and holding conferences and forums specialized in
environmental media.
AWRAQ works on empowering women and youth in the fields
of media and small projects through training courses and
opening small income-generating businesses that take into
account the principles of preserving the environment, such as
the environmentally friendly bags project and the recycling
bazaar project.
The program aims to create a core of jurists specialized in
environmental affairs, raise awareness of environmental law,
and assist the local legislator in creating environmental
legislation that protects the environment and contributes to
sustainable development. The program also works with
Parliament and partners in civil institutions in evaluating and
monitoring the implementation of international agreements
and environmental legislation Ground.
And that is through holding training workshops and
specialized lectures and working with research centers and
partner civil society institutions in producing reports and
specialized studies in environmental law and the right to
protect the environment as an inherent human right.
